Kathleen, I bought a large lot of them on eBay, but that was two years ago. If you strike out there, I’ve seen them in the last few months at Dollar Tree.

No, the ones I had were 8 inches tall, but I did recently see a cute party where someone did that. Mine came from galvanizedpail.com, and the smaller ones do have a hard plastic liner that either comes with it or that you can buy separately.

I loved this idea when I saw it way back when and have had it bookmarked. Today we celebrated my son’s 4th birthday with a garbage truck theme as he is beyond obsessed with all things garbage and recycling. For Christmas Santa brought him a full size old school garbage can. We used your idea for the garbage grabbers, my cake was similar too. Such a fun theme. Thanks for the inspiration.
