Last Day of School Printable Photo Signs

OK, so I totally (and I mean TOTALLY) forgot I’d done these for the first day of school. A kind soul reminded me, and so I wanted to go ahead and post for you since our last day is this Friday. Sigh. These are just like the First Day signs – Pre-school through 12th grade with a few generic use ones thrown in. Links to download are included at the bottom of this post.

Also available are these “Seniors Class of 20__” signs for K-12. I took a picture of my son and several of the first graders in the neighborhood on the first day, and I’m hoping to catch them for another photo on the last day too!

Mother’s Day Printable Questionnaire

OK, so the Father’s Day printables that I’ve done over the years are literally blowing up my blog and on Pinterest. Well, not literally blowing up, but it’s my most popular post. Every Day. Of. The Year. So, you know. Try not to look. It’ll be kind of like a surprise. Shoot this link to Dad. Or print x number of copies and put it in his hand with writing utensils. Make it happen. I think the answers are going to be pretty funny!

Enjoy and Happy Mother’s Day! We survived another year of Cheeto fingers and selective hearing – with some good stuff in between.

First Day of School Printable Photo Signs

My friend Katie’s oldest is starting Kindergarten in a few weeks. She mentioned that she’s been on the hunt for some cute printable signs to commemorate the first day of each school year. You know the ones you make your kids hold up in a picture on the first day of school?

Sounds cute, no? We both thought it might be a fun, free printable to offer. Here’s what I came up with. I have options for pre-school through senior year here and will likely do some that can be used for the last day of school too so you can see how much they’ve changed over the school year.

I changed up the design for the older kids. I’m sure there will still be plenty of eye rolling.

Here’s what they look like (if you don’t wait til 3:45 pm in front of your west-facing house on a 100 degree day). Sun grins. We don’t start until next week, but you get the idea!

I also got started thinking it might be fun to do some Seniors Class of … Sign printables. I always loved seeing those photos of a group of us in third grade who all graduated together years later. I hope to get some of the neighborhood boys with their Seniors Class of 2024 sign after they walk home from school on the first day! I have included Seniors Class of 2025 through Seniors Class of 2013. Here’s a cheat sheet for those of you who don’t want to do the math.

Lego Star Wars Party

A Star Wars- and Lego-loving boy I know just turned six! As you might guess, there are a wealth of parties out there to draw from, many with free printables. Yea! After several months of collaborative Pinterest board building, we had quite a selection of ideas to choose from–some Lego, some Star Wars, some Lego Star Wars.

As you may know, I do NOT do licensed character/themed parties. Yes, I made these invitations because the birthday boy is my nephew. No, I do not sell them, so please don’t ask, mmmK?

Thanks for your understanding!

They featured a Lego lightsaber handle and a pull-out folded saber with the invitation text printed right on.

It read, “Lightsabers, Minifigures and Lego Bricks. Jedi Jack is turning six! Celebrate we must! (Party date, time and location)

Attend will you? Do or do not. There is no try. Respond you must to the Jedi Council at (contact info).”

Now, onto the festivities of the day! Even though the pool was a bit too cool, there was still plenty of fun in the sun to be had.

This No. 6 sign made from Legos hung on the back gate to welcome guests to the party area.

The playhouse camouflaged in green branches was transformed into an Ewok Village. Look who the birthday boy found hiding up there!

There were epic noodle lightsaber battles, some bouncy house fun and even a Darth Vader pinata.

They paused for a walk on the Dark Side with this Darth Vader photo opp. Luke was there too!

The fun didn’t stop when it was time to eat.

This cute name banner is from BellyTickles on Etsy.

I’m loving these simple lightsaber napkin treatments Amanda made using this tutorial from Catch My Party.

And how cute are the drink boxes wrapped like Lego bricks? Here’s a link to the free printable file she used from Delia Creates.

There was also R2D2 water, mini bottles which were easily transformed with a geometric design printed and trimmed to size, and what else, but green Yoda Soda!

Download the free printable water bottle labels here.

There was plenty of themed food to choose from too.

Leia Buns

Ewok Grahams

Chewie Granola Bars (you know you want to laugh)

Lego Spuds

Buildable candy bricks, pretzel lightsabers and more, including some awesome lightsaber freezer pop cozies from HandcraftingHarmony on Etsy. Brilliant!

And these fun candy lightsabers from extramoneyformommy also on Etsy. Sorry I don’t have any photos of those to share!

After all that food, and a lot more play, it was time for cake complete with lots of crazy cool fondant minifigures. I’m sure the birthday boy was in Lego Star Wars heaven.

Happy 6th Jedi Jack!

Father’s Day Printable | Meet My Dad

I don’t offer printables very often. Largely because I never get any real indication that people are using them. For some reason, my Father’s Day printable, first released at least two years ago, has totally exploded on Pinterest. Since early February, it has been pinned and repinned over and over. Exploding my blog hits. Blowing my mind. I mean, Father’s Day is in June. Kudos to all of you who are that far ahead of the game. I am not one of you, but I aspire to one day be! Seriously. Look at this snapshot below of things you’ve pinned from my blog. That long skinny pale yellow thing is my Father’s Day printable. It’s like that all the way down the page. That and those pink marshmallow flowers. Who knew, right?

I’ve got several versions of that printable floating around. Some of them are year-specific. Some are not. All have a yellow tie design running down the center. I guess it’s sort of an antiquated notion that ties represent dads though. My husband wears a suit and tie to work. Every. Single. Day. Many dads don’t though, and I’m sure they are glad for it! I know I would be. I’ve just finished an updated version: Dad in t-shirt. Top Pop. I’ve switched up the questions a bit and added a place for your kiddo’s name, age and the year as well. Enjoy!

Valentine’s Free Printables | Love is in the Air

I’m a bit on pink and red overload with Valentine’s. I’ve been wanting to create some new artwork. Decided I’d try something that feels sort of light and airy in comparison to all the heavy, saturated color we see this time of year. When I was reminded of these candy airplanes (instructions here) on Pinterest, it went perfectly with a theme I’d been batting around in my head, “Love is in the Air!” I decided I’d create a free printable collection along these lines in which the little candy airplane would make an appearance.

Here’s what I used, in specific, for my airplanes:

  • Fruit Stripe Gum (still comes in an old-school pack WITH the white wrapper) and more appealing to kids than cinnamon gum in my opinion
  • Red, pink, white or pale blue seamless ponytail holder (so the candy won’t taste all rubber bandy)
  • Two cherry lifesavers (my kids would spit the white ones out pronto)
  • One roll of Smarties
  • Tiny Valentine’s stickers (these shown were 2/$1 at Walgreen’s)

Note: If you or your school is opposed to gum for kids this age, you can use a pack of Pez just as well (I’m thinking that an AirHead or mini Laffy Taffy might also work in the gum’s stead). There’s just no pretty white surface to sticker.

These cutie little airplanes fit perfectly into a 4 x 4 inch zipper bag (check your craft store’s jewelry section).  I’ve provided a sweetie pie printable bag topper which prints two to a page on a 4×6. There’s also a version with six to a letter page included. It’s very hard to tell from my fab photog, but the background is pale blue with clouds! Just trim in half and score down the middle of the red scallops to fold. Adhere with glue dots or double stick tape. I used some of each since my paper stock has an extra bit of body to it.

I also did a sort of girl and boy version of the flat Valentine’s handout cards–one with a heart balloon and another with the little plane skywriting “Love” in the clouds. Each has a place to write the names in.

I thought the balloon version lent itself well to a candy add-on. So using my rotary fabric cutter (or an Xacto knife), I cut a 3/4″ slit just below the red of the balloon tip and inserted this heart-shaped sucker. Cute, no? I trimmed some of the excess wrapper off to make it less bulky. If you like, you can score this card to fold in half, then seal it with a sticker. These also print on 4×6, but I have included a download for printing three on a letter-sized page as well.

Look at that happy little heart balloon/sucker! I secured the stick to the back of the card with a piece of clear tape.

Finally, available for free download are these sweet toppers. You can punch them with a 2 inch paper punch as shown here and use them as cupcake picks.

The same printable file also works well as straw toppers when using a 1 1/2 inch paper punch. Here, I freehand cut the 3/4″ slits with a my handheld rotary cutter and inserted festive paper drinking straws.

I am pleased as punch with the way these turned out, and I hope you will be too! You can download your free Valentine’s printables below or here. I can’t BELIEVE it’s almost February! Can’t you just smell the love that’s in the air? Or maybe it’s cupcakes. Either way, enjoy!

Free BOO Signage Printables

Do your friends and neighbors BOO one another during the month of October? You know where you sneak around and tag someone by leaving a treat on their doorstep? Then, they turn around and tag two others, and it spreads throughout the ‘hood until Halloween. My sister mentioned that she’d like to have a BOO sign printable, so I whipped up a couple.

I did two versions, a cutesy one and a spooky one. Each one has a BOO sign and a matching sheet with instructions.

Here’s the cutesy one.

And here’s the spooky one.

The spooky one is more my style.  I printed it out on some white paper that I dyed with tea. This was the first time I’d tried tea-dying paper. I just smeared a wet tea bag on the page, let dry and pressed flat under a book so it would still run through the printer. I liked the look of the sign as a square so I trimmed the bottom off at 8.5″ and hung it by some black ribbon I had on hand. Here’s how it turned out!

Like what you see? You can download them below! Happy haunting!

{Announcing It} Moving Thoughts

As you may know, my family and I moved recently. And when I say recently, I mean right at a year ago. Why am I thinking about it now? Because after a mere 377 days on the market, we just sold our old house! WOO HOO! I know a lot of folks are in the same boat. Hang in there!

Lots of us are on the move during the summer months and scurrying to get settled in before school starts. Thought I’d share a few custom moving announcements I’ve done over the last year or so.

For a friend moving to a new home in their golf community, I combined some existing artwork to create this moving announcement.

This is one of my favorites. It was created in a round of options for another friend moving to a new ‘hood in Nashville. Not the announcement she picked for those keeping score. That’s OK, though. Totally need to add this one to the online store.

This is the one she picked. Bungalow style.

**Technical note** I’m crossing my fingers that these images look more crisp to you than they do to me. I’ve tried jpgs, pngs, various size compressions. Blurry images. It’s a mystery. If you have a clue as to the problem, help a girl out. When you click to enlarge, BTW they are crystal clear. Even more vexing.

And now for a couple that are more whimsical…

I laugh at this next one every time I see it.  My friend “Rose” (names have been changed to protect the innocent) had a vision of this one when she contacted me.

How hilarious is the dog? Boston Terrier. His name was not changed. Hello, Norbert!

We have moved three times in ten years, and only once have we avoided having to move in the heat of summer. July in Mississippi is like “fry your face off hot.” And don’t forget the humidity. But it’s the South. It’s where we come from, and we love it. Mostly. This last one is the announcement I designed when we moved last year.

It’s hard to believe we’ve been here a year! We’ve just now gotten some paint on the walls and still have no furniture in the entry way. Man, we’ve got some WORK to do!

If you’re on the move, here are some free printable moving announcements for you. Print single-sided as a 4×6 and add your personal info on the flip side or print double-sided and mail as a postcard! Three colors to choose from: chocolate, melon and lime. The font is cheap pine. Download below.

Enjoy and remember to lift with the legs.

Meet My Dad 2011

Back by popular demand (OK, so one person asked) here’s the link to my Father’s Day printable for the kids to give Dad this year. It’s a total hoot, especially for the three- to eight-year-old set to answer. I think it’ll will be great to save and laugh about years from now. Maybe if I’m feeling industrious I’ll work on one with some new questions this week. Enjoy!
