{Announcing It} Moving Thoughts

As you may know, my family and I moved recently. And when I say recently, I mean right at a year ago. Why am I thinking about it now? Because after a mere 377 days on the market, we just sold our old house! WOO HOO! I know a lot of folks are in the same boat. Hang in there!

Lots of us are on the move during the summer months and scurrying to get settled in before school starts. Thought I’d share a few custom moving announcements I’ve done over the last year or so.

For a friend moving to a new home in their golf community, I combined some existing artwork to create this moving announcement.

This is one of my favorites. It was created in a round of options for another friend moving to a new ‘hood in Nashville. Not the announcement she picked for those keeping score. That’s OK, though. Totally need to add this one to the online store.

This is the one she picked. Bungalow style.

**Technical note** I’m crossing my fingers that these images look more crisp to you than they do to me. I’ve tried jpgs, pngs, various size compressions. Blurry images. It’s a mystery. If you have a clue as to the problem, help a girl out. When you click to enlarge, BTW they are crystal clear. Even more vexing.

And now for a couple that are more whimsical…

I laugh at this next one every time I see it.  My friend “Rose” (names have been changed to protect the innocent) had a vision of this one when she contacted me.

How hilarious is the dog? Boston Terrier. His name was not changed. Hello, Norbert!

We have moved three times in ten years, and only once have we avoided having to move in the heat of summer. July in Mississippi is like “fry your face off hot.” And don’t forget the humidity. But it’s the South. It’s where we come from, and we love it. Mostly. This last one is the announcement I designed when we moved last year.

It’s hard to believe we’ve been here a year! We’ve just now gotten some paint on the walls and still have no furniture in the entry way. Man, we’ve got some WORK to do!

If you’re on the move, here are some free printable moving announcements for you. Print single-sided as a 4×6 and add your personal info on the flip side or print double-sided and mail as a postcard! Three colors to choose from: chocolate, melon and lime. The font is cheap pine. Download below.

Enjoy and remember to lift with the legs.

Printable Labels for Holiday Food and Drink

What a crazy time of year this is! Headed to a few more parties or to a friend’s house for a little casual merry making? Don’t show empty-handed! Dress up a bottle of your fave vino with one of these fun printable holiday labels. There are six designs to chose from (three shown here). So slap one of these babies on a bottle of red. It’s guaranteed to please and much easier to look after than a bird in a tree.

Or do something different with a lovely bottle of white. I’m not a huge fan of a red wines myself. {Gasp.} I prefer the sweeter white wines like Rieslings, Gewürztraminers and Moscatos.

Mmmmm….it’s like Fruitcake in a Bottle. Only not. Because I love these whites. And fruitcake? Not so much.

Or if you really want to shake things up, maybe take a bottle of the bubbly. Hey, even sparkling juice can be festive!

Now, I would typically have printed these labels on a nice, glossy white full page label sheet and trimmed to size. However, in the aftermath of the Christmas card season (and in true “me” fashion) I got all ready to print and…no full page labels. The labels shown were actually printed on some Avery 5164 white shipping labels–the thick ones that cover up what’s underneath. I just trimmed off the rounded corners and literally slapped them on. They went on pretty easily without a lot of fuss. I will say if you go shopping for a few bottles to gift, you might consider label size or lack thereof as a selling point. Just sayin’.

If you’re going more personal and packin’ some tasty treats from your kitchen, we have a few printables for that too!

Confession time. In the interest of time and full disclosure, I borrowed the adorable bow for this photo from a box of Christmas goodies compliments of my sweet neighbor, Stephanie, over at the Moxie Maley blog. Check her out! There are three other food tag design printables available for download as well. Most of the fonts on the food tags are available for little or no price from one of my fave font foundries if you’re feeling crazy.

WINNER, WINNER! Cupcakes for dinner!

We had a great response to our photo submission contest. We received 75 entries for use in our online holiday card catalog! There was no limit to the number of photos you could submit, and the winner was chosen at random by random.org to receive a $100 Pink Peppermint Paper gift certificate. A HUGE thanks to all who participated. Remember now, this was not a photo contest, but it’s a shame because look at some of these beauties!

There are a TON of others that I love too, but I can’t show them all to you! You’ll just have to wait and see them in the holiday card designs. Thanks again to everyone who participated. I am just thrilled with the result.

Oh, I guess you still want to know who won. Drumroll, please…. the winner of a $100 PPP gift certificate is Carol Alford! Congratulations! Email eleanor@pinkpeppermintpaper.com to claim your prize.

Fame, Fortune and Free Stuff!

The holidays will soon be upon us, {sigh} and it’s time for me to start working on a few new card designs for this year! Problem. I need some sweet faces to feature in those holiday cards. For all of you photographers, aspiring photographers or folks with a camera, mostly willing subjects and a good eye, here’s your chance to have your photos featured in card designs in our online store, www.pinkpeppermintpaper.com.

“What’s in it for me?” you ask. Submit your pics for a chance to win a $100 gift certificate to Pink Peppermint Paper. Use it for your own cards or for any of our other paper items–invitations, announcements, custom work. Heck, we might even be sweet-talked into working on a party for you. Here’s the deal:

  • Email your high resolution photos to eleanor@pinkpeppermintpaper.com. If you want your real names to be used, please include those as well, just as you would on your own cards, e.g. “…from the Fords–Grant, Sara, Will and Anna”. If you do not include names, we’ll just make some up.
  • Each separate usable photo that you submit will get you another entry for a new chance to win. Send in as many photos as you like. Couples, singles, group shots, with our without adults.
  • By submitting photos, you are certifying that you have the rights to use/distribute these photos and that you are not infringing on anyone’s copyright to those images. If you’re not sure, PLEASE ask. We don’t like to break the rules.
  • Photographers, please include a link to your website or Facebook page, so that we can feature it at the bottom of that card design page on our website. If you submit photos of subjects who are not members of your immediate family, you must also have their permission. If they agree to participate, we’ll also submit their names to enter the drawing–that’s one for you, one for them per picture ’cause we’re just that nice!
  • Winner to be drawn randomly on Monday, August 30, 2010. That gives you two weekends to pick through your files!
  • If you are a photographer and are interested in offering your clients a discount on Pink Peppermint holiday card orders, please email me at eleanor@pinkpeppermintpaper.com and we’ll get you set up.
  • Questions? Don’t be afraid to ask. Email me at eleanor@pinkpeppermintpaper.com or post your query on our Facebook page.

Send this year’s pictures, last year’s, or the year before that! Thanks for participating. Now, go get busy!
